Industry celebrates displaysat 2008 POPAI awards
The P-O-P industry gathered at the Marriott on London's Grosvenor Square to celebrate the achievements of the industry at the second annual POPAI awards in October.
In the Display of the Year award category, PPE took home the gold for its LancĂ´me mascara tower display for L'Oreal. Silver went to HRG for its outdoor roof tile display for Marley Eternit and Kesslers International took the bronze award for its Sony HD Blu Ray display for Sony.
Notable achievements on the night went to Arken P-O-P with two gold awards, two silver and a bronze. Pointer, part of the Bezier group, took home three silver awards, a gold and a bronze.
The panel of judges included POPAI Chair Simon Rowe, also retail development coordinator for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and representatives from retail brands including Unilever, Boots, L'Oreal and Hasbro.
The awards included cosmetics, fashion, telecommunications and grocery categories and recognised both temporary and permanent displays. Award categories also recognised installation, innovation and digital technology in P-O-P and a student design award.
This year POPAI re-introduced the bronze level award to fully recognise the standard of work entered into categories and judges were impressed by the quality of the displays entered.
Twenty-two awards were given out and comedian Frankie Boyle compered the event. The awards were sponsored by Momentum.
