Electricals retailer Brighthouse has announced further planned expansion across the UK, after opening 23 stores in the last six months.

"We aim to raise our high street presence by increasing our network to over 200 retail outlets in 2009. Customers seem to be enjoying the ease and accessibility of our service and we won't let our growth compromise the quality of service," says Brighthouse head of marketing Alan Beesley. Brighthouse's store format is designed in-house.

The retailer announced a 60 per cent rise in pre-tax profits to £20.1m, from an 11.5% per cent increase in like-for-like sales, in the financial year ending March 2008. Brighthouse allows its customers to pay via weekly installments with no credit checks, which could be responsible for buoying the company's results at a time when other retailers are struggling.

The retailer has also launched a TV campaign focussing on its value credentials, in a bid to appeal to customers on limited budgets.
